Okuma LB / LU Lathe Repair
LB and LU are Okuma's horizontal lathe workhorses — LB 200 through LB 5000 EX, LU 300 through LU 8000. The line spans entry production to large-bore turning. Live-tool variants add live-tool drive complexity; long-bed builds see spindle wear from extended cuts.

Common failure patterns

- Tailstock quill wear on long-bed LB 4000 and LB 5000.
- Spindle bearing wear on heavily used LB and LU long-bed.

Controls used on this series
Older LB and LU run OSP-P200; mid-life builds run OSP-P300; the latest LB 3000 EX II and LB 4000/5000 EX run OSP-P500 on current production. Legacy ES-L and ESV builds may still be on OSP Legacy.
Lead time
Lead time depends on the model, the failure mode, and parts availability. Diagnostic is fast; full rebuilds run 3 to 5 weeks on most jobs. We scope each job individually rather than quoting a generic window.
