Doosan Series Repair
Doosan Puma Horizontal Turning Spindle Repair & Grinding
Puma horizontal-turning spindles are the most common Doosan spindles we see — Puma 230 through Puma 800 with M/MS/LM/LY/Y/SY/SY II configuration variants, plus the heavier 4100, 5100, 700, and 800 builds, the GT compact lineup, and the TT twin-turret builds. The spindle types scale with size class: smaller Puma 1500/2000 use lighter cartridges; Puma 4100 and 5100 have heavier-duty bearing arrangements.

Common failure patterns
- Front bearing wear under sustained bar-feed production on smaller Puma builds.
- Larger spindle bearing wear on Puma 4100/5100 from heavy axial cuts.
- Sub-spindle synchronization drift on SY twin-spindle configurations.
- Chuck cylinder leaks affecting spindle preload on high-cycle bar work.
- Spindle preload loss from draw-tube wear over years of cycle count.
Controls used on this series
Most Puma builds ship on Fanuc — entry and mid-range on Fanuc 0i (Doosan) (typically 0i-D or 0i-F), and higher-end Puma 2600SY, 3100, 4100, 5100, 700, and 800 on Fanuc 30i (Doosan).
Lead time
Lead time depends on the model, the failure mode, and parts availability. Diagnostic is fast; full rebuilds run 3 to 5 weeks on most jobs. We scope each job individually rather than quoting a generic window.
