Fanuc Control Generation
Spindle Service on Fanuc Series 30i / 31i / 32i / 35i
Fanuc 30i, 31i, 32i, and 35i (Model A and B) paired with the current αii-class spindle drive generation. The platform is used on higher-end multi-axis machines where spindle parameter visibility and FOCAS integration matter. Most spindle service work on 30i family machines is the spindle hardware itself; the control side adds network-based parameter management and shop-floor monitoring integration.
Machines this control shipped on
30i family ships on higher-end machines — most current Doosan Puma (2600SY, 3100, 4100, 5100, 700, 800), all Puma MX and SMX, DVF 5-axis, NHM/NHP/HC horizontals, and the higher-end DNM verticals.
Common failures and fixes
- Less hardware failure than earlier generations given relative age.
- Network configuration drift affecting spindle monitoring integration.
- MTConnect and FOCAS setup for spindle metric integration.
- SSD upgrades on early 30i-A builds with original HDD — companion service to spindle work.
Parts availability
30i family spindle drive parts (αii-class) are fully current and supported through Fanuc.
Battery, memory, and parameter recovery
Spindle parameter backup on 30i is modern — network and USB-based parameter and PMC backup. Before any spindle work we capture the parameter set including FOCAS integration settings and verify the restore at sign-off.
