The HDD-to-SSD upgrade on Matrix-1 is a high-ROI companion service when a machine is in for spindle work anyway. Spindle parameters back up cleanly over network on Matrix-2.

Parts availability
Matrix-2 spindle drives and control boards are fully supported through OEM and authorized channels. Matrix-1 is heading toward late-life status but still serviceable. Spindle drive amplifiers from this generation are well documented and parts availability is generally good.
Battery, memory, and parameter recovery
Matrix supports clean parameter backup over CF card or USB. Before any spindle work, we back up the spindle-related parameters (preload, drive tuning, encoder offsets) along with the full machine parameter set. The SSD upgrade on Matrix-1 is the highest-value preventive service item — combining it with scheduled spindle work eliminates a future return trip.
