Okuma Series Repair
Okuma Genos L / Genos M Spindle Repair & Grinding
Genos spindles are Okuma's 'Affordable Excellence' line — Genos L lathes (L250, L300, L3000-e, L400, L4000) and Genos M verticals (M460-VE, M560-V, M660-V). The platform's lighter-duty spindle design shows different wear patterns than the higher-end MB/MA or MULTUS lines, particularly under sustained production cycles. Thermal management matters on Genos because the platform's cost optimization doesn't include the same thermal compensation hardware as higher-end machines.

Common failure patterns
- Bearing wear from sustained production cycles.
- Spindle thermal drift on machines pushed to upper RPM limits without warm-up.
- ATC wear affecting spindle-nose tool retention.
- Control panel reliability impacting spindle setup workflow on older Genos.
Controls used on this series
Genos ships on OSP-P300 — the standard Okuma control for the line through current builds.
Lead time
Lead time depends on the model, the failure mode, and parts availability. Diagnostic is fast; full rebuilds run 3 to 5 weeks on most jobs. We scope each job individually rather than quoting a generic window.
