DMG Mori DMU / DMC 5-Axis Way Covers
DMU and DMC 5-axis covers are among the more demanding fabrications in the DMG Mori lineup. DMU trunnion-table machines (DMU 50 through DMU 340) need linear-axis covers that clear the rotating workpiece envelope. DMU monoBLOCK and duoBLOCK builds have different cover geometries from the trunnion machines. DMC cube and gantry builds have their own configurations.

Common failure patterns
- DMU trunnion-table covers — linear axes use telescoping steel; trunnion-adjacent areas use bellows or fabric.
- DMU monoBLOCK swivel-head configurations have different cover requirements than trunnion.
- DMU duoBLOCK covers handle larger work envelopes than monoBLOCK.
- DMC vertical, cube, and gantry builds have distinct cover geometries.
- 5-axis chip and coolant loads are different from 3-axis — cover sealing matters more.
Controls used on this series
Current DMU and DMC way covers are OEM-available through DMG Mori; some specific configurations route through custom fabrication. Lead time is 2 to 4 weeks. Full multi-axis cover sets coordinate well as a package.
Lead time
Lead time depends on the model, the failure mode, and parts availability. Diagnostic is fast; full rebuilds run 3 to 5 weeks on most jobs. We scope each job individually rather than quoting a generic window.
