DMG Mori Series Repair
DMG Mori NLX / ALX Way Covers
NLX and ALX universal-turning covers use telescoping steel as the default across the lineup — NLX-1500 through NLX-6000 and ALX-1500 through 2500. Bed-length suffixes (/500, /700, /1500) drive cover dimensions; the SY/SMC twin-spindle and Y/MY variants add additional axes requiring matching cover sets. The long-bed configurations have substantially longer covers than the base machines.

Common failure patterns
- Telescoping steel is standard across NLX and ALX configurations.
- Bed-length suffix (/500, /700, /1500) drives cover dimensions — confirm during quoting.
- SY and SMC twin-spindle add sub-spindle ways and matching cover sets.
- Y and MY variants add Y-axis covers not present on base configurations.
- Bar-feed and parts-catcher mounting can interfere with cover paths.
Controls used on this series
Most NLX and ALX way covers are OEM-available through DMG Mori channels. Custom fabrication is an option when timing or specific requirements make that path better. Lead time is 2 to 4 weeks.
Lead time
Lead time depends on the model, the failure mode, and parts availability. Diagnostic is fast; full rebuilds run 3 to 5 weeks on most jobs. We scope each job individually rather than quoting a generic window.
