Mazak Quick Turn Way Covers
Quick Turn lathe way covers protect the slant-bed ways from chip and coolant ingress. The QT and QTN series uses telescoping-steel covers on most models — they handle the heavy chip load that comes off turning operations better than bellows. Cover dimensions scale with bed size: QT-8 through QT-15 use compact configurations; QTN-300 and larger have longer ways and matching covers. We fabricate to spec from your existing cover, the original drawing, or measurements off the machine.

Common failure patterns
- Telescoping steel is the default cover style for Quick Turn — handles turning-chip loads better than bellows.
- MS and MSY twin-spindle variants have additional sub-spindle ways requiring matching cover sets.
- Long-bed QTN-300 through QTN-450 covers are larger and require accurate measurement of the way travel.
- Y-axis variants (QT and QTN with Y) add an additional axis cover.
- Bar-feed and parts-catcher mounting can interfere with cover paths — confirm clearances during quoting.
Controls used on this series
Older Quick Turn covers are typically OEM-discontinued; current Compact, Smart, and Ultra models still have OEM-spec replacements available through Mazak channels. We can match either path — build to your exact spec or replicate the OEM original. Lead time is 2 to 4 weeks on most orders regardless of the path.
Lead time
Lead time depends on the model, the failure mode, and parts availability. Diagnostic is fast; full rebuilds run 3 to 5 weeks on most jobs. We scope each job individually rather than quoting a generic window.
