Fanuc Control Generation
Fanuc Series 30i / 31i / 32i / 35i Repair
Fanuc Series 30i, 31i, 32i, and 35i are the current high-end Fanuc family — Model A through current Model B. They ship on higher-end machines that need more axes, more features, or faster processing than 0i provides. In 2026 they're recent enough that hardware failure is uncommon; most service work is integration, networking, MTConnect, and FOCAS-based shop-floor monitoring.
Machines this control shipped on
30i and family ship on higher-end machines — most current Doosan Puma (Puma 2600SY, 3100, 4100, 5100, 700, 800), all Puma MX and SMX multitasking, DVF 5-axis, NHM/NHP/HC horizontals, and the higher-end DNM verticals.
Common failures and fixes
- Less hardware failure than earlier generations given relative age.
- Networking configuration drift after shop-floor IT changes.
- MTConnect and FOCAS setup for shop-floor monitoring.
- SSD upgrades on early 30i-A builds with the original HDD.
- Touchscreen calibration drift on heavily used panels.
Parts availability
30i family parts are fully current and supported through Fanuc.
Battery, memory, and parameter recovery
Backup workflow on 30i is modern — network and USB-based parameter and PMC backup. We document the parameter set at the start of every visit and verify the restore at sign-off.
